Dream Home Improvements

If I could have any home improvement in my home, I would probably focus on my entire house, mostly my flooring and my lighting. I would choose slate or tile flooring in my entire basement, kitchen and all of my bathrooms. The rest of my home (excluding the top level of my home) I would install wood flooring. As far as lighting, I would replace EVERY light fixture in my home and install recessed lighting in my kitchens, track lighting in my basement, and simple elegant figures throughout the rest of the home.

Clorox UltimateCare Premium Bleach

I hate bleach. I hate the smell, I hate the consistency, I hate what it does, and I hate how it makes my clothes feel… until now. A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to try some new wonder bleach, and I almost did not take it, but I figured it couldn’t hurt. In the last nine years, I have bought one bottle of bleach, and been given three. Outside of work I have probably used three cups of bleach in my lifetime. My mom purchased the last bottle of regular bleach 19 months ago when my last baby was born; I have not used it since. It is not that I like grungy clothes, it’s more that I don’t buy white clothes because I do not like having to use bleach to keep them clean.

Fast forward to last week. Like I mentioned, I had the opportunity to try Clorox UltimateCare Premium Bleach with a soft cotton scent. When I first received the product I was surprised how thick it was, much like liquid detergent. I also noticed that even though I can smell the bleach, it was not the normal knock-you-on-your-butt overwhelming smell that I was used to. The other thing I noticed right away was how easy the bottle was to use and dispense the liquid, it has a wide lid and a spout that I can easily pour into my machine’s bleach dispenser.

The other feature that amazed me about Clorox UltimateCare Premium Bleach is that is is gentle enough to pour directly onto the clothes for pre-treating. The last time I did that with regular bleach I had a hole in my shirt! I am prepared for the next time my mom visits, now I have bleach in the house that I love!!

Kitchen Appliance Guide

I love gadgets, appliances, and most importantly knowing what I am going to be getting for my money. That is why I love researching before I buy through websites like this Kitchen Appliance Guide. For a while I have been considering getting a smoothie maker; I make a lot of fat free fruit smoothies because I really do not like fruit or milk, but when made into a smoothie I will drink it. I have burned through three blenders in the last year because they probably were not made for the amount of abuse I put them through. The above link is great because it explains the health benefits of drinking smoothies, hints and tips on how to chose a smoothie maker, the top models being sold, and where to buy the model I chose.

Truly Bizarre

While watching David Letterman last night I saw a guest on there named Ruth Regina, who has cornered a market that I guess I did not need cornered. She is a custom wig designer who makes “Quality Wigs and Hairpieces for Men & Women”… what she did not mention in her slogan is that she also makes hairpieces for man’s best friend. Yes. For DOGS. Check out these pictures of dogs in wigs on her website. I got such a good laugh at looking at those poor pups. Imagine Chloe in a wig!

Health Insurance

Just a few months ago, before my husband had his current job, we were stuck between a rock and a hard place when it came to health insurance. His employer offered health insurance, but we could not afford it. Had I known about Vimo, we probably would not have been uninsured for any period of time, luckily we only had to go without coverage for 4 months. When I plugged in the information for my family of five, I was surprised to find that for less than $110 a month, we could have been covered, compare that to the $900 a month through his employer! If you are uninsured, or paying too much for insurance, check Vimo out for a free instant quote, you may be pleasantly surprised!

Fond memories of moral corruption

When I was younger, my parents owned ten acres of wooded land up near Newport Washington at the base of little blue grouse mountain. My dad was building a cabin by hand (by this I mean with a chainsaw and a Toyota Land Cruiser), and we had a tiny one room camper without running water or electricity (just propane) or bathroom facilities (we had an outhouse several feet away). Every weekend we would go up to “The Land” and I would run wild in the woods catching frogs, and swimming in the creek, and building forts, while my parents worked on the cabin. In the evenings, because we had no television or lights bright enough to read by; we would play dominoes, or my favorite game, Poker.

Now that my kids are old enough to understand rules of more complex games, I wanted to share my love of cards with them. I found almost everything I needed, cards, and poker chips, BUT for the life of me I could not remember the poker rules! Thank goodness for the Internet! I can now learn and teach my kids games that I did not even know how to play when I was their age!
