Freaking Busy!

I have been staring and modifying HTML and CSS all day long trying to get ready for the big announcment. I have also beein trying to upload 5 years of digital pictures into Flickr; there are some neat ones in there… my trip to Korea, visit from Aunt Patty and cousin Caleb, Matthew’s first days, Bobby’s return from Iraq (poor quality photos, great memories), etc. It is pretty obvious when I got my new camera by the quality of pictures around 10.05. Anyways, I am taking a break from now so I can make some home-made cornbread for dinner, yum!

PayPerPost, I love you!

Have I mentioned how much I love Pay Per Post, or how much I love to get paid for blog advertising? You pay me for things that I love; blogging, writing, and reviewing new product, services, or websites. You also make it so I am able to stay home with my sweet little boy because with daycare and the loss of my PPP income, we would make less money with me working. I also love that I don’t have to get out of my pajamas to ‘go to the office’ if I don’t want to. What job could be better than this??

Quite the Undertaking

I am pulling my hair out today, this new page is turning out to be a huge mind melting journey into madness.  I am sure in time I will get better at learning the ins and outs of WordPress, but in the meantime forgive me if my baby watches too much Sesame Street, and my dog has to whine at me to get my attention, or if I ask my older kids to please take care of themselves.  Despite all this, the kids will get a hot meal, the laundry is going, the dishes are clean, so it can’t be that bad!

Mean Old Hen!

In reply to this post on my friend EarthMama’s website, I am going to share a story with all of you instead of making a huge long reply.

My mom grew up on a farm; they had cows and chickens, and a a few other animals. The stories my mom told me always stuck with me; the one I am about to share was always my favorite.

My grandpa told my aunt (3 of them) and my mom a trick to make mean hens nice, and that is to take them to the pond and dunk them under the water for a few seconds and then they would be nice. So my mom, the youngest girl, and her sisters Joanne (the 2nd daughter of the 4), and Mary (3rd daughter), take the meanest hen to the pond and dunk it. Well the chicken comes out of the water pissed off and meaner than ever, so Joanne dunks it a few more times, for longer periods of time. Finally they pull the chicken up and it is no longer mean… because it is DEAD!

All three girls panic and Joanne comes up with the idea of propping the hen up next to the chicken coop and pretending nothing happened. Of course my grandpa found the hen and wanted to know what happened… both Mary and Joanne pipe up “Evelyn (my mom) did it!” But my mom was a free spirit and often was the one who did it.

Now, if you ask my mom or my aunt Mary to tell their version, you will probably get another story… and by the way, dunking a chicken in water does not make it nicer, it makes it dead.

RIP Joanne S. – Jan. 27, 1946-June 6, 2002; you will always be loved, and never forgotten.
