I am always looking for good martial arts websites for the boys, since joining taekwondo they have been huge fans of watching, learning, and trying all sorts of martial arts. That is why I am excited for the launch of a new website called MartialArts3000.com. They have a large assortment of books, CDs and DVDs for the martial arts enthusiast. I just sent this link of Taekwondo stuff in an IM down to the basement where Bobby and is and he really liked all the products, he is thinking of buying some training videos so he can practice in his spare time. Bobby started Taekwondo last night and is trying to catch up with Austin and Christopher so they can all be the same belt level, but since Austin and Christopher started almost 4 months ago, Bobby has some work to do. He did earn his yellow belt while in Korea, but since he has no proof of it, he is starting from square one.
I also liked this Fitness Kickboxing DVD, it looks like a lot of fun and we may try it. This website has a lot of great information, DVDs, books and CDs, you should really check it out.

Matthew_SwingI started babysitting a little girl during the days and so I brought up a few “necessities”, like Matthew’s playpen and his swing.  Well, Matthew loved his new little chair so much he climbed in and started swinging himself back and forth.  The little stinker is WAY too big for this swing, but he does not realize it.  Come on now little one, if you can climb in and out all by yourself, you are just WAY too big.

Finally!

We got Matthew’s hair cut!

We have been meaning to get it cut for weeks now, but we kept putting it off. Finally I just said “get in the car, we are going NOW”.

He was not too thrilled about it, but there were no tears, or grumbling, just wiggling and a lot of signing and saying “help”.

I was impressed how well he did, even when she pulled out the clippers to shave the back of his neck.

Afterwards we celebrated by getting Korean food at a REALLY good restaurant here in town, and then got him his own cup of ice cream on the way home.

And yes, I even cut the back.

Terri asked me how I felt about it earlier. Yes, it looks good, and I do like it… but I am also very sad. I have always loved the long soft downy locks of hair, and I do think the long hair was so cute… but it was time. He feels so much older to me now, and I miss being able to hold him against my chest and put my fingers through his hair at night when he was sleepy… but it was time. My 22 month old baby seems one step closer to being a two year old toddler.

Bobby forgot his work phone today at home after he came home for lunch. He immediately noticed, but did not want to turn around and get it. Well I ran upstairs to go to the bathroom; Matthew was watching the Wiggles and the baby (A., the girl I babysit) was sleeping in the swing so I figured I could run upstairs for a minute and it would be OK. When I came downstairs Matthew was holding Bobby’s phone saying “Bobby? Bobby?” so I looked at the call history and there had just been an outgoing call to the site manager where Bobby works.

I called Bobby who called the site manager to apologize. The site manager said he kept saying Bobby’s name over and over and he was trying to get him to say his own name. He was not upset about the call, he has 5 kids of his own and knows how precocious the little ones can be.

I have always loved ties, I think they are beautiful and stylish and can make or break a suit. I grew up seeing my father wear a tie to work each morning, as a kid I used to open his tie drawer and admire the patterns and fabrics. When Bobby got out of the Army I was very excited to be able to help him shop for a suit and ties. In fact he let me pick out most of his ties because I have a good eye for that sort of thing. That is why I fell in love when I found these photos for Belisi.

If you have not heard of Peter Belisi, he is an entrepreneur who ran with a great idea after struggling to support his family. Belisi has recently added fine scarves and handbags to his line of fashionable ties.

Last night at the mall we decided to try Ruby Tuesday’s, I got steak, Bobby got ribs, Austin got chicken, Christopher got shrimp, and Matthew got a grilled cheese. It was so funny because he picked up the sign “sandwich” last night and repeatedly kept signing “cheese sandwich”. He wanted cheese fries, so he would take fries and cram it between the bread and then pull out a french fry covered in cheese. He also kept asking for bites of our food and when I gave him a bite of my steak, he stole my fork.

First he used the fork to eat his fries, and it was hilarious watching him try to put it on the fork and then try to dip it in the little cup of ketchup. Then he decided sandwiches are probably better on a fork, so he put it on the fork. Then he decided to try grilled cheese dipped in ketchup; but that lost his interest pretty quick. We got some nice little laughs out of his funny dining habits, it is so funny how much better anything tastes on a fork, even fries.

I have always appreciated the benefits of baby wearing. I still wear Matthew, even though he is almost two because I appreciate the closeness, knowing where is is at all times, being able to go about my business with my hands free, and wearing him in a good quality sling is SO much easier on the back & shoulders than carrying him in my arms. I also wear baby A., otherwise I would get nothing done. I have two slings, a ring sling similar to this one, and a front/back pack style similar to this one; but I have always loved the design of a Moby Wrap.

Fox Den Lane has a large assortment of fabrics, styles and brands of slings to meet your baby’s needs. They have wraps which you wrap your baby against your body and secure it in an assortment of different positions, mei teis which are like a pocket you secure your baby in and then tie him/her to your front, hip or side, and ring slings, which you secure your baby next to your body and secure the fabric between rings. All slings/wraps/packs/mei tei’s have the advantage of keeping your baby secure and close to you, but check out this beautiful website to see which style is right for you and your baby.

In the spirit of confessing my downfalls over at my other blog HERE, I will tell you about an unfortunate incident that happened last night. I was prepping to shampoo my carpet, and was using some Nature’s Miracle stain and odor remover w/ automatic pump to pre-treat any suspicious spots believed to possibly be puppy spots that went unnoticed. Anyone who has seen this contraption knows it is a battery operated pump connected to a gallon jug of cleaner by a thin hose. After I was done cleaning I set it on the island in the kitchen and continued to clean.

After I was done shampooing, we left the house for a few hours to let the carpet dry and to take Bobby’s wedding ring to the jeweler to have it refinished (it is yellow gold plated with while gold and he keeps wearing off the plating and having a reaction to the yellow gold underneath). On the way out the door, Bobby realized he forgot his cell phone and ran inside to get it. I noticed he was taking a while to come back, but I did not think much of it. When he came out he looked at me and said “you broke my phone”. Of course I had NO CLUE what he was talking about. I did not notice, but his phone was on the island where I set the cleaner and the nozzle leaked on the counter onto his phone and shorted it out and ruined it. So while at the mall he picked up a new cell phone. They are SO expensive when you have to pay full price, yikes!

Anyways, I told him I would not strew the facts and to mention the fact that he leaves his phone there every day (I have never seen it there). He thinks it is my fault, I think it is nobodies fault, we both agree it is an accident and neither one of us is irritated. I think this was a big setup for him to get a new phone! Ok, I am joking, I know better than that.

I swear it! Well I was blogging a huge long confession over at Mistakes in Motherhood but something happened right as I went to save and my host seems to be down because now I cannot get my website to load. I don’t think it managed to save before the crash either, so I am quite frustrated. For the last 2 days the Internet has been giving me nothing but trouble, which may be why I have been MIA lately.
