The Dumbass Strikes Again!

I mentioned on my other blog that I finished my taxes last week, I was able to get it all done on-line and got what I expected… well, what I didn’t expect was to get a tuition statement from Bobby’s college since we are still trying to work out a payment agreement (not only is the VA not processing our claim right, but neither is the student loan department).

Anyways, with the new form, comes an amendment and a new refund amount, only this one will take a few months to get.  I should have known this was coming, I would have saved myself a big old headache.

Doctor Ditch, Part 6 – Ditched!

I forgot to mention… I was supposed to have a doctor’s appointment this afternoon, but when the office called on Friday to remind me of my appointment I cancelled it, because I had forgotten to go get some lab work done a week prior to my appointment.

Well, I did something I have been meaning to do for months. I called the doctor a friend reccomended to see if she was accepting new patients with my insurance. She was! I went ahead and made myself an appointment and then called my insurance company to make the switch.

I will meet my new doctor in a little over a week and at that point will make a decision if I like her or not. I am going to bring up my problem with my blood pressure medicine not working and see if she sees an alternative to weaning and going on birth control like my old doctor suggested.

I also found out that my Insurance will pay for infertility meds and diagnostics ONLY if it is not coded as such and done through my OB/GYN. So maybe this summer I will start going in to see if my doctor can fix my irrgeular cycles… nudge nudge.

Soap Operas

Ok, I will be the first to admit that I do not like Soap Operas, probably because my life IS a Soap Opera, but I found myself intrigued with the website that offers recaps of Soap Operas, as well as news, spoilers, and message boards (and so much more). I was actually pretty surprised to see Ugly Betty listed on the website as a Soap Opera, but I guess it does kind of fit the bill.

The website itself is easy on the eyes, well put together, easy to navigate, professional looking, and contains a lot of information without playing favorites. I love the graphics of the website, they are not overdone, or too cutesy, and the website flows very well. I also love the links to The Sims – Life Stories website, since I am a total Sim Addict. This website is very well done, and I would give it an A+.

What is the big deal?

I was just watching a commercial about Valentines Day and how every woman needs diamonds and you should get her these earrings for $4999. I am the only one who would beat my husband senseless if he spent $5,000 on something I would be too scared of putting in my ears? In fact I am not impressed with this “holiday” at all. Last year we went down the street to the new gun store to browse, and that was just fine by me because we spent the entire day together and that is what matters to me.

I have never wanted more than time together on February 14th; don’t bother with flowers, I don’t need candy, save the money on jewelry, I don’t even need a card. Besides, then I won’t feel guilty about not doing anything special on March 14th (<–WARNING: not child friendly).

The Importance of Insurance

Recently fires have been ravaging the local area, with multiple fatalities, dozens of injuries and hundreds of people without homes and millions of dollars in damage. What strikes me is how many of these people are without any kind of insurance for their homes, cars, and property. Did you know renters insurance usually runs less than $20 a month? And since it replaces your property at replacement value, and not what you actually paid, it does not matter that your sofa came from Goodwill. The easiest place to find renters insurance, is to contact your car insurance company to see if they offer renters insurance.

Of course if you are looking for car insurance, or wish to compare car insurance rates, there is no time like the present. I don’t understand how people say they cannot afford insurance; driving without it is like playing Russian roulette, the cost of driving without it is more than you will pay to have it.

Also, make sure that your home insurance policy is up to date and has enough coverage. The dishes you got on sale at Target are not worth $25 on replacement cost if you will have to pay $250 to replace them, so making sure not to under insure your property is a must! Look at the replacement value of little things… your computer, all its software, all your CDs and multimedia equipment, all your clothes, your childrens’ toys, it all adds up!

Updates

Lots of updates to come today, so stay tuned!  I mentioned in my other blog that I have been super busy lately.  I am watching a four month old baby who is high demand (compared to my own children) for six hours each weekday.  She does take a nice long nap in the morning, however I am usually using this time trying to keep up on cleaning or even taking that time to eat breakfast or take a shower.  Unfortunately the computer has not been super high on my priorities list, so my blogging has really taken a back seat and I hope to get my creative juices flowing and rectify that situation.  So stay tuned, I hope to have a lot to offer soon!
