Another Date Night

Last night Bobby and I, plus another couple went to see Carlos Mencia. Now, in the last year I have seen a LOT of comedians, but none were anywhere CLOSE to how funny this man was. Not only was he funny, but he had a ton of good points about race and violence and how there is not equality between the different races. I will refrain from trying to paraphrase everything that he talked about, because I would do no justice retelling it, but I had a GREAT time and it will probably be a while before I see another comedy show because it will be a while before someone can top this show.

Amazing the things boys hide in their closets!

Today was closet cleaning day; something that has not happened in about 6 months.. yikes!

So I go up and I see a clean swim diaper, an airplane ticket stub, and a decapitated Barbie, oh my! I also see they found about 7 of Matthew’s missing shoes. Earlier I mentioned how Matthew has about a dozen pairs of shoes, but only 11 right shoes and one left shoe… none matching of course. Well now we have a few more matches.

I am really looking forward to how nice their closet looks. Last year I removed the closet doors to improve visibility, thus increasing accountability. It has worked, to a point; I had stopped nagging and they quit cleaning… OR cleaned by stuffing all their toys into any old tote, not into it’s own tote. Nothing unusual for children, but eventually it needs cleaning.

In the meantime, my own closet needs some TLC. I have shoes and clothes I can donate and I need to re-organize my knitting basket. After that I need to help the boys go through their clothing to give away the stuff that is too small. Last weekend I went through Matthew’s and was able to remove three medium sized boxes for storage/donation.

Belt Testing Again

Bobby, Austin and Christopher all passed their belt tests! Bobby is now Yellow Belt, and Austin and Christopher made Green belt, which means Austin and Chris have graduated up into the Intermediate class.

Well Baby

Matthew had his 2 year well baby exam today. He was super cute playing with the “bwocks” (blocks) in the office… he would stack them up and then knock them down. He also played with the cars and did REALLY well putting together the puzzles.

The actual exam went well, he is as usual on the smaller side; 25% for weight, 5% for height… normal for him and normal for our family.

Getting ready to go was quite another story… Bobby was working at home so he was helping me get ready. We could NOT find any of his shoes that matched!! It was ridiculous. Thanks to Terri, my little guy is a shoe hound… he has a dozen pair of shoes or more… however he is all right feet apparently because of all those shoes he ONLY had one left shoe… that one of course not being a match to any of the other right shoes. So, he went to the doctor in mismatched soft sole shoes. One was a boat, and the other was a puppy.

After the appointment I went to Payless to take advantage of a BOGO sale since he could use a pair of sandals and I wanted a pair of Airwalk Croc-Off shoes. I then went to Walmart to get him an over the door shoe organizer, play shoes near the bottom, and his every day wear shoes at the top out of reach. In time as we find shoes we will put them in the organizer and voila, a pair is found! I sure would love to know where he is ferreting the left shoes away too. I have searched in his room, my room, and any other common areas I have thought of. Silly little guy probably has a mountain of shoes hidden away somewhere.

Shocking Report on Child Abuse.

You must read this! I am just dumbfounded.

Horrendous isn’t it?

I am ready for bed already

It is only 9:16 AM and I am already for bed… Baby A. got shots yesterday, so she has been very cranky all day today and still has not napped. About 20 minutes of crying is my limit before I want to stick wax in my ears and start crying myself.

On top of that I am exhausted and have an upset stomach. I started a new medicine last night for my PCOS which always makes me so sick and tired. I guess it is not new, since I have started and stopped it two other times in the past, but new to my system since it has been a year since I tried it last.

I can also smell pee in my house, but I am not sure from who, or where it is and it is driving me insane… it is not strong, but it is there and it will be the cherry on my “I’m going crazy Sundae”.

Las Vegas

It is no secret that Las Vegas is growing by leaps and bounds. I currently know a handful of people who live there and will soon lose another friend to the appeal of the Vegas lights. Because of the influx of people pouring into the city, Las Vegas real estate as you can imagine, is booming! Las Vegas is not all about glints, glamor, and gambling, but it is a great place to live. All my friends who live there love it, they say that there is just so much to do. Also, I just learned today that people in Las Vegas pay no personal taxes! I also admire the Spanish/Desert Style stucco homes in rich earthy tones and big beautiful windows. They remind me of homes I used to admire when I was a child visiting my family in the southwest.

Saddened

On the wings of the anniversary of Columbine (A HUGE deal here in Colorado) and with the news that the SWAT team would be investigating all local high schools for weaknesses in case another school shooting… we lose more people to a senseless tragedy. I almost feel like it was worse that the shooter was a college senior… he was almost done with school. What a horrible waste, what a sad loss. My prayers extend to all those who have lost a loved one, to anyone injured and their families, and to all the students trying to heal. May healing come quick to all.

You have to fight, your right, to potty!

Matthew is the total opposite of Christopher. Christopher was laid back, independent, non-touchy-feely, and opposed to potty learning. Matthew is a bit higher maintenance, he knows what he wants and will stop at nothing to get it, he is a cuddle bug, he is chatty, and he has decided it is time to initiate potty learning.

For about 6 months now it is all about taking the diaper off, wet or soiled, with or without our knowledge. Then about a month ago he climbed up on the potty himself and peed in the toilet. Now, it is like having a new puppy… I am cleaning up poop everywhere. He attempts to make it in the potty, but more often poops next to the potty. I am all about child-led everything, and I have been encouraging early potty learning, without sitting him on the toilet all day every day.

A few weeks ago, we got him some big boy underwear with a Finding Nemo theme. He loves his fish – butt as he calls it. See, Matthew is ALL about butt lately. He pretty much has about a dozen different meanings to butt; from tooting, pooping, his penis, his butt, and now his underwear.

Sunday morning, Daddy let him wear his underwear and he came to visit me in bed. He was holding onto my headboard, jumping up and down on daddy’s pillow, singing “butt-butt-butt-butt-butt-butt-butt-butt”; he was so happy, and Bobby and I were laughing like crazy. He is such a silly baby!

So far, no accidents in the big boy underwear… but honestly that is because he does not keep them on long enough, but that is OK. He is making positive steps forward, and learning at his own speed, and that is fine by me!

Finances

Loans can be confusing, and risky, especially when your home or credit is at stake. When a loan is necessary, it may be difficult to chose between the different types of loans, like Secured Loan, which are typically lower interest loans with something put up for collateral like a home or property. These types of loans include a mortgage, auto loan, or a home equity line of credit.

Another type of loan is a personal loan, which are typically higher interest, shorter repayment terms, and usually have nothing used for collateral. These type of loans are typically short term, higher interest, and smaller in amount. These type of loans have no collateral and include loans such as credit cards, signature loans and payday loans.

A third type of loan is a debt consolidation loan, this is a loan with the purpose of paying off other high interest loans. The type of consolidation loan I am most familiar with is a home equity loan, which frees up the equity in your home to use for the purpose of paying off higher interest loans.

Any time you are dealing with credit, there are risks, from overextending yourself and getting into “debt up to your eyeballs” so to say, to overpaying for an item after calculating interest, to using the value of your home and then later not being able to sell your home for profit, or even having negative equity. There is also the temptation of running up the freshly paid off credit cards once you have consolidated them into a new loan. This is why one should never borrow money lightly… remember, what is one dollar today, may be $5 tomorrow.
